Privacy Policy

Lighthaus ("Lighthaus", "we", "us") is operated by Studio Twelve FZCO. We built Lighthaus to support new mothers, and we take the privacy of an already-vulnerable community seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — when you sign up with Apple, Google, or email, we collect your name (or chosen display name) and email address to create and secure your account.
• Approximate location — if you enable it, we use coarse, privacy-first location to power the beacon map and "near me" features. We do not collect or share your precise GPS location. You can turn this off at any time.
• Baby & wellness data — information you choose to log, such as feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, and mood check-ins. This is stored to provide you with tracking features.
• User content — the lights you send and receive, community posts, and messages you exchange in 1:1 chats.
• Usage & device data — basic technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and diagnostic/crash data to keep the app working reliably.
• Notifications — if you allow them, a push token so we can send you the notifications you've opted into.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the core experience — showing you that other mothers are awake, delivering and receiving lights, and matching you 1:1.
• To provide baby tracking, wellness tools, and the community feed.
• To send notifications you have opted into, and to keep your account secure.
• To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the app.
• To surface crisis and postpartum support resources.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your baby, health, or location data for advertising.

3. How your information is shared

• With other users — only the content you choose to share, such as an anonymous light, a community post, or messages in a 1:1 chat you enter. Your precise location and email are never shown to other users.
• Service providers — we use trusted infrastructure providers to run the app, including Supabase (database, authentication, storage) and Apple/Google push services (APNs/FCM) for notifications. They process data only on our behalf.
• Legal — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

4. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your associated personal data, except where we are required to retain it for legal reasons.

5. Your choices & rights

• Access & deletion — you can delete your account and data in the app under You → Privacy → Delete account, or by emailing us.
• Location & notifications — you can turn these off any time in the app or in your device settings.
• Depending on where you live (for example the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Contact us to exercise them.

6. Children

Lighthaus is intended for adults (mothers) and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
